I ordered a large box of comfrey roots from this fellow and BOY was i impressed!    He was eager to please,   wanted to make sure I got exactly what i wanted, and kept in touch to keep me informed on the status of my order.    My box arrived in perfect shape ....the roots were succulent and healthy and I have every confidence they will be making an appearance above ground even before winter comes.   Thanks SO MUCH Ken!!

Thanks so much for this post guys! I too have wondered if the same benefits could be had from one of my favorite trees...honey locust, as can be had from the black locust! It's great to see such high praise for this tree!

LOL i live in frigid Wyoming, and the guys at the lumber yard laughed at me when i bought plywood and insulation for my chicken coop. Let them laugh...i keep a radiant oil heater in the coop all winter..it keeps it around 50 degrees in there, and my girls are happy and comfy. They are actually colder on sunny days when the temps are above freezing and i let them out in the pen than they are during the night when they are shut up in the insulated coop. Egg production is picking back up now that daylight hours are increasing. I don't care what anyone says....i don't like the idea of any critter trying to survive minus zero temps.

Anyone have any experience with perennial Rye grass? <shakinghead> My dad planted it in the pasture as a ground cover, and BOY, did it!!! Once it's established it has HUGE root systems, and chokes out most everything else. It also reseeds freely, and invades things like my asparagus patch. grrrrrr Since i am old and crippled up, digging it out is wayyyyyyyy much work for this old bod. Will the cardboard, mulch thing work for something so tenacious?
