I would so love to go to this! Got to start networking with all the permaculture orgs in Colorado to make more good stuff go down here!

Thanks, I actually wound up finding a more developed world map that dearly needs more input.
For instance, there is not a single entry for Colorado or the surrounding states...
So I will be adding sources to it all this season as I find stuff to forage.

I replaced the map on the page with one developed by Forage.rs, also hosted by google maps.
Go check it out, there is also a list of other maps for smaller local areas (rather than the whole planet.)
I'd love some feedback and if anyone knows of more maps, I'll list them on that page!

This is fantastic! I wish I was in the UK to participate! It would be great to launch something similar here in the US. I'm working on getting a cooperative of tiny house builders together to help each other with the logistics and creation of their own tiny homes, hopefully branching out to more permaculture collaborations.

Keep it up! This rocks!

Hey Permies! This is my first post here, so I'd like to introduce myself... I go by Pete Moss and I've been into gardening and Permaculture design for 8 years now. Been following Paul & Permies.com for a while but have been too involved in other projects to get involved here. I've done lots of different things in the permaculture/sustainability realm that I'll talk about later in context. I'm building a website and will be producing a bi-weekly podcast at www.EcologicalLiving.net with lots of great content and features to help spread the permaculture way of living in all its practicalities and extravagances.

Here's one collaborative feature I've been dreaming up for a while and finally got started with a google map. Public Foraging for Food & Medicine is a map where you can find & share places to forage for food and medicinal plants in PUBLIC spaces (roadside, park, ally, hanging over walkway.) Though I started it by listing a mulberry tree in Boulder, CO, there is no set geographical limit, I'd like this to be world-wide and I'll be linking to other similar maps already made for localities to be all-inclusive. So come help with the mapping project, spread the word to all your foraging friends, who knows - you might uncover some new stashes for the coming seasons.

Share this link, the page is basic now but I'm working on it: http://ecologicalliving.net/foraging-map

You can add points to the map by going to the google maps page (http://maps.google.com/maps/ms?ie=UTF&msa=0&msid=209109666363708691899.0004d8cdc73cdb12f532d) and clicking EDIT, then click the middle of the 3 buttons that pop up in the upper-left corner of the map. When posting a location, include name of plant to be found, any details about finding it, best time for harvest, a picture if you have one, and your comments. Please do not post locations of private property unless you are the property owner and welcome random fruit pickers onto your land. If posting your private property, please include your contact information so prospective pickers can reach you rather than trespass.

I hope this map, and all of EcologicalLiving.net, become a valuable resource to spread our vision of a sustainable future and make practical solutions known to all.

Looking forward to talking with you all in the forums. Thanks for being here!
