Good morning,
My wife and I recently purchased a house out here in New Hampshire, and we're very interested in gardening (That's why we're on this site
). One of the things I'm very interested in is using the square footage of the attached garage to catch rainwater and, using a system of pvc piping, bring that water to a container from which we can run a drip-line down to our raised beds. My primary concern is that the garage roof is asphalt, and I'm getting a reb-flag vibe from it. My question is would an ordinary tarp strapped to the roof be enough to circumvent any impacts the asphalt roof would have on the quality of the water? Would it be prudent to throw the tarp up on the roof when rain is expected, or do you imagine it's something that I could leave in place for several months without issue?
Besides replacing the roof entirely, is there something easier I could try besides the tarp?
Thanks!
