I saw a Landline tv program once (in Australia) about a factory using candy unsuitable for sale (due to damage, colour, I don't know!) to make huge lick blocks for dairy sheep and goats. The dairy farmer would put the blocks, which were about 2ft cubed, in the paddock and the animals would come and lick them like a salt block. Apparently the fat content in the milk increased heaps. Not sure what effect it had on the sheep and goats though...
