Biography
Since childhood, I've been drawn to country life, its plants, animals, and community. My journey in botany and soil regeneration led to work in Sintra, Portugal, where I deepened my knowledge in plant propagation, seed conservation, and garden history. I worked with 900 species, focusing on Mediterranean and endangered ones, crucial for Sintra's ecosystem.
I've been actively involved in community garden projects near Lisbon and volunteered in the "Campanha das sementes livres," helping to collect and conserve traditional seed varieties with farmers. My education continued with PRI Australia, where I completed several permaculture courses, ranging from earthworks and design to consultancy and community establishment.
As a permaculture activist, mother, and passionate seed advocate, I believe preserving traditional varieties and the freedom of all seeds is crucial for our future. My mission in permaculture, to leave a healthy planet for future generations, has led me to develop and teach numerous permaculture courses across Portugal, alongside fellow educators. Currently, I'm involved in several permaculture projects in Portugal, focusing on design, consultancy, and training, striving to make a tangible impact through sustainable living practices.

Permaculture Design Course - An Immersive Journey into the World of Permaculture
The Permaculture Design Course (PDC) offers an intensive immersion into the realm of Permaculture. This course aims to equip students with an ecological mindset and a profound understanding of the principles of regenerative design, empowering them to redesign communities and human settlements in harmony with the rules of nature.
The primary objective of this design course is to develop effective design skills through hands-on application of knowledge and tools. Participants have the unique opportunity to learn by engaging in a real community design process.
The course will take place at Aldeia do Vale project, located in Sintra, Portugal. It follows the traditional 2-week format (intensive) with 1 free day (over 100 hours), originally created by Bill Mollison. The course combines practical classes (40%), theoretical sessions, field trips, interactive games, dynamic activities, experience sharing, communal living, and more. This format allows participants to deeply immerse themselves in the principles of Permaculture design, which they will apply and present in their final design projects. To receive the certificate, attendees are required to attend at least 80% of the course.
The foundation of this course lies in the 14 chapters of the book "Permaculture: A Designers Manual" by Bill Mollison. Some of the topics covered include:
Permaculture principles and ethics;
Landscape reading. Observing patterns and cycles of nature;
Ecosystem principles, climate, and biogeography applied in Permaculture;
Design principles: Analytical process, zones, efficient energy planning, etc.;
Resource identification. Water in the environment, water collection, and conservation, solar energy, etc.;
Building healthy soil: Soil structure, texture, strategies for soil improvement using green manures, compost, mulching, erosion control;
Establishing Permaculture gardens, food forests - how to select and maintain these systems. "Producing more food in less space" (bio-intensive method);
Seed collection and conservation;
Wind/fire barrier design;
Healthy housing/shelter: Selecting a location for the house, non-toxic materials, natural building systems;
Appropriate technologies: Dry toilets, solar dehydrators, cob ovens, alternative energy sources, material recycling;
Introduction to sustainable community and eco-village design. Group organization systems. Alternative economy, strategies for a global nation.

Join our Permaculture Design Course and embark on a transformative journey towards sustainable living and ecological harmony. Learn to design a better future in alignment with nature's wisdom.
