So these things used to get in my dog food when not properly sealed in Louisiana. Now that I live in the far northern Rockies, about 50 miles south of Canada, I'm curious if Black Soldier Flies can even make it up here. I haven't seen any around, but I'd like to start breeding them for my chickens. Does anyone know if black soldier flies can be bred in Montana or if anyone is doing this? If not, any other viable options? My birds are mostly free range during the summer (lots of land with seeds and grasshoppers), but I'm trying to get something brewing to cut winter feed costs. Also my permaculture clients are all down South, and moving up here I'm trying to get used to temperate climate permaculture. Thanks in advance!
