We love homeschooling! For kids age 7> the academic portion can definitely be done in under 2 hrs. Look at it more as a lifestyle than “school” and you will find that your children are always learning. The most important thing during the early years is to foster a love of learning and build healthy relationships. Playgroups are great (esp if moms take turns hosting drop-off play dates:). As far as curriculum goes, we like a mix of Waldorf / unschool. If it doesn’t work, change it! That’s the beautiful if homeschool—flexibility and the ability to customize education / lifestyle in a way that is perfect for your child and family.

Hi everyone, I’m looking to purchase a well-established off-grid permaculture property. Preferably in ID or TN, but open to other places as well. Acreage can be small or large (I know others interested as well). What is the best way to go about finding such a property? TIA!
In a valley surrounded by mountains, 50 high-end earthships, each on an acre, encircle a greenbelt with community clubhouse, garden, pool, sports court, playground, and picnic areas. Orchards line each path leading to the greenbelt (apple tree court, cherry tree lane, etc.). A solar roadways trail  wraps around the perimeter for hiking and biking. Water for community areas comes from a river or natural springs. The community is filled with creative, liberty-loving, homeschooling families. We freely exchange goods and services, create art and music together, and embrace each other for our similarities and differences. No public utilities, TV, radio, or WiFi. Live concerts every weekend.
