I just read your post. Are you still looking for a place to stay in exchange for work? Here is what I am looking for. I am purchasing 10 acres of gorgeous woods in Northern Florida with an abandoned home and two sheds. In exchange for living onsite for a year, I am looking for someone to rehab this home so it's off-grid ready. That means it must be structurally sound, painted, cleaned and as whole is inhabitable without adding solar power, showers, toilet or anything else that may require too much experience.
We are not connected at all so water may be an issue for you when living there-- we could talk about this. Once the home is complete (is inhabitable), we can discuss the future about the following year, maybe you two learning how to put in solar, dig a well connected to solar, composting toilet, aquifer shower, etc. For now I would just like the home to look pleasant on the inside and out. We can learn the off grid stuff as we go.
I am willing to work with you two on how we do this. I would be living in another state so it really would be all yours to explore.
