The forgiveness is for you, to be able to move on, you don't forget and don't say what happened is OK, you just heal yourself, you don't even need to tell the person you are forgiving

I live in a fairly dry area, I am just making my bed now, I don't have forests around me either but I found old trees, raspberry canes, any old wood I could find, I have only got the "frame " started
