It would only be possible to put it in if you add structure under the home for the added weight.

Another update: The 21 days for the right to appeal has passed, so the township will not be appealing the decision. Looks like this is finally over. The good guys won!

Just an update on this case: They won the court case and can continue farming! The judge ruled the farm is in compliance with the GAAMPS and is therefore protected by the Michigan Right to Farm Act. Props to the Farm to Consumer Legal Defense Fund for representing the Buchlers. Huge victory for all Michigan small farmers.

My brother in law made me aware of this and I am posting it here so anyone near them can lend support. Unfortunately, this is becoming more and more common.

I believe the biggest reason from EandE against doing this was the possibility of creating an alternate chimney. Essentially the alternate air supply becomes a chimney and the RMH runs in reverse. You then have fire going into ducting that was never designed to handle it. The open wood feed will not act the same way, as it is not tall enough to create the draw the ducting would.

Wow! I am going to save you some pain and recommend you go to http://outdoorwoodfurnaceinfo.com/forum/index.php?board=14.0 Nothing you described can be considered a Rocket Mass Heater. Hope you have success with your build.

By "The Book", I assume you mean "Rocket Mass Heaters: Superefficient Woodstoves YOU Can Build" by Ianto Evans. On page 16, yes it shows the "push and pull" effect. And on page 24, he says you can have an eccentric gap for more efficient direction of radiant heat. The diameter of the inside of the riser is dependent on the diameter of the burn tunnel and exhaust pipe, which should have the same cross section area through-out.
