Sorry, but there is just the one. I don't think it is goldenrod, at least not the type that I am used to seeing. What doesn't help is that I have been throwing a lot of different seeds in this area...mostly wild edible or other useful plants and some I've gotten on a seed exchange. Read that it might not be native (don't tell anyone).

The one clue that may help is that it started off with a single Easter Egg yellow flower with 4 petals (if I remember correctly) that turned this reddish-orangy look. Also, I just noticed that the first flower turned into this elongated seed pod and that this is its second attempt. This leads me to believe that it might, just maybe, be a mustard of some type but I don't think it is. Unfortunately I didn't count the stamen. That pod is centered on my index finger in the picture.

The latest path on my quest for identification has me thinking it might be some type of primrose Ludwigia sumpinornuther but I am really at a loss on this one.

My pleasure. I'm betting a Nutribullet or a Vita-Mix would do a better job of it but a blender was all I had available. I've also heard of using a coffee grinder...but I don't have one of those either.

Hi! I'm fairly new here and I was wondering if there is a place on this forum for plant identification. I come across some things that get my curiosity up and this is one of them. If there is a better place to post this please let me know. Thanks!

I keep a combination of plastic and paper grocery bags along with a 5 gallon bucket in my truck. It really depends on what I'm harvesting &/or how long will take me to put it in refrigeration (if needed). With mushrooms I generally use paper or plastic bags. I know, it's not perfect. However, I generally get them into a cooler within an hour or so from harvesting.

Just a few months ago I harvested a bunch of oyster mushrooms I found while hunting. I was glad I had those plastic grocery bags with me and I didn't notice any problems from it but it was cold and raining that day. So on point for the bags is that they're very portable and handy. Also, oysters might hold up better to that treatment...I really don't know. However, If I were trying to harvest a bunch of chanterelle's at one time I think I might have to invest in a basket.

I can't help you on why they didn't have berries. However, I can tell you that they are fairly easy to grow. The kicker is to put the seeds in the ground and let them set through the winter. I have several growing around my house now...just because. I've found enough around my area to keep me happy but I just like having a "wild" landscape that I can share with people. In other words, so I can talk their heads off about wild plants.

You don't need to separate the husk from the seeds. All I do is strip them from the stems, wash them off a bit, dry them and grind them in a blender. This is some of the finished product I found hiding in my pantry.

I am looking to plant 25 pecan trees this year on a large lawn and to transplant a lot more new saplings into buckets for later years. I have about 30 acres of current modern farmland which is usually rotated with just soybeans and wheat. I would like to change this acreage into a pecan orchard but would like to implement as much of permaculture design as possible. The 1st year trees will be kept in containers until it becomes necessary to plant them on the 30 acres. That will keep farm revenue flowing in the meantime. I'm estimating a total of about 250 trees but I'm concerned about not having enough diversity and spacing as well.

I guess my main questions are what else can a plant around these pecan trees as a guild? What plants and wildlife would be most beneficial? I don't mind throwing some other trees in the mix at all as long as I will be able to harvest the pecans years down the road. Are there any designs that can I can implement that will provide other cash &/or food crops within this orchard? Any ideas or help would be very much appreciated. Thanks!

Looks like Amaranthus to me. Not sure about the type...also seems a little early in the year.
