This question fascinates me. Present build will feature a riser that starts out square, morphs to a wider circular shape, then narrows to a circle that has the same cross sectional area as the initial square. Also putting together an equal height riser that is just circular all the way, for a comparison.  What I've read about pulse jets and two stroke expansion chambers makes me think that the more complicated shape might really offer advantages as far as when the burn will reach high temperature and complete combustion. Wish me luck, this is going to involve some complicated cardboard forms and fancy ceramic/vermiculite work...🙏

Planning a RMH using a big oil storage tank as the drum. Like a monster one... So the kusnetxov site is really intriguing, but I've not actually talked to anyone who has built a double-bell. It seems to make sense, but there have been enough rocketish stove failures/weak smokies built at my farm already. Also check out our youtube video "The Dome that ate a Rocket Stove"

Easily the best site I've seen on high temperature combustion is www.stove.ru The site has excellent drawings, clear and complete tech explanations, and pictures of what the gadgets look like when you really build them. It seems to be the work of Igor Kuznetsov, who is somehow associated with the North American Masonry Stove Association. Incredible amount of quality information about how to burn wood like a civilized person.
