Hi, I see that this thread hasn't been active for a few years. I'm interested in making contact with permaculture people in the Boise area and nearby. I'm a permaculture designer thinking of relocating from Joshua Tree, CA to Boise. I will be traveling through Boise this August and would like to meet up with some permies. Anyone game?

Joshua Tree CA is fast becoming a permaculture mecca. Warren Brush will teach the very first PDC to be offered at the Harrison House Music, Arts and Ecology Center. March 31 - April 14, 2019.
Hi Folks, I'm selling my 5 acres land and house in Landers, CA (20 minutes from Joshua Tree, CA). I'm a permaculture designer and have been working the site for the last 3 years. It's time to move on so I'm sending out the intention that the right steward for this special land will show up. Please take a look:

Hi Folks, I'm interested in building some dovecots on my land in Joshua Tree, CA (mojave desert). I have ready access to clay, sand and straw for cob building but can't find any instructions on the web for the specifics of building such a structure. I see plenty of pictures but no details on construction. Anybody have any info?

Hi Folks,
I am working on a water harvesting design for a property in the mojave desert that has quite a bit of tortoise habitat on it. Swales and berms would not be appropriate for a such a sensitive region. I was thinking of rock bunds on contour with passageway breaks in them for tortoise migration. My guestion is - is there any good research on the effectiveness of rock bunds for water harvesting and sediment catchment. Thanks!

Thanks Rene. Yes, I think onward with swales and tweak them as I go.

Even though I should have started at the top, even though this one is catching way too much sediment. Even though....I've had 2 big rain events since it was built and it's captured and stored thousands of gallons of water that use to shoot off my land!

Thanks Rob. Yes, that's the plan. I'm working on it. Here are some pics:
