Hi. I hope you can help.
We recently built two rocket stoves up in remote communities in the Andes in Peru. Because of flooding, we haven't been able to get up there to try them out until this week. We started up the stove with sticks, and had massive amounts of smoke fill the room. We couldn't get the stove to exhaust out in the right direction. Thinking that we should try to create a draft, (which, after doing more reading today, realized would probably not help), we cut a hole outside in the exhaust pipe, and lit a fire there. Well, we created a huge draft, but in the wrong direction! The stove is now sucking in air from outside. Any ideas on what the problem is, and how to fix it? It is a full 8 hour trek to these communities, where we cannot get any outside materials and do not have internet or phone service - so when we go back to fix these stoves, we have to be well prepared - with ideas and materials.
Thanks so much for your help.
