Hey guys!  My name is Earl and my wife has been working on a homesteading/permaculture club here in CT.  We have done something active each month for a while now and our members are growing.  Everyone shares for free and we work together.  We have had soil health presentations, tree grafting and mushroom workshops, recently we went on a trip to Eric Toensmeiers Food Forest and upcoming is an event specifically for the Homestead Kids.  If anyone is interested you can message me but im not often on the computer.  A better way would be to join my wifes group on FB.

Time to necro this thread!  Hey guys!  Ive been pretty busy doing things not on the computer these days and working to move my family and property forward.  along with being back in school (college), but I would like to try reaching out again.  To those of you gals and guys doin great stuff in CT - keep it up!  I would also like to send apologies to those I have lost contact with from this thread and others.  But would also like to extend an invitation to join the club my wife has been running.  It is free to be a part of and is all about homesteading/permaculture in CT.  We have been successful in putting on workshops in tree grafting, mushroom growing, soil health,  sharing ideas, and recently we went together to Eric Toensmeiers food forest.  Up next is a special event for children of the homestead.  Anyway, if you would like to get out and be active and share your knowledge and gain knowledge from others please consider messaging me or checking out our FB group.

I wish I could say I've been lazy this year but I've got a just about three year old and a just about one year old so I've been pretty much going insane! Lol... But a couple of us met up last fall and I would be very much interested and trying to jump start something up again? I know me and Aaron are both from bristol and James drove out all the way from Woodstock to meet... So we owe him a meetup on that side of the state... So whoever was in RI that would probably work out pretty well.

@bob.. Would love to check out your 5 acre plot.. I have 5 acres too and pretty much in the noob stages of planning things out, would love to see what you have done.

@jeffrey... I'm really close to canton and I teach at farmington high school so someday on my way home I would really be interested in checking out your project! Sounds like I could learn a lot!

If people are interested post back and we can drum up some dates to meet up and grab a beer or snack or whatever!

Maybe something in late may?

Alright... been busy but here it is... me and aaron have met up a couple times to trade some plants and cuttings.. we both reside in bristol ct and not far from each other... a new micro brewery has opened up in town, i havent been there but they seem very supportive of community and such. thats a good thing and i hear the beer is really good, which is a better thing.. so plans are to try and meet up next thursday... Nov. 14 somewhere around 6 - 8 pm... the place closes at 8. Not sure who wants to show up or who doesnt mind driving out to bristol but for now that seems like a great meet-up place...

if people wanna show up thats great, i will be there... hope to see some of you guys there.

Half a dozen is not a bad start... sorry, Ive been away from the interwebz for a while and I know I started this thread... So.. with that in mind and since september is really close now... Why dont we try to figure out a cool place and time to meet up around mid- October? Maybe somewhere central Ct-ish? Keep posting if people are interested? Later.

Hey everyone,
I have been coasting these forums now for the better part of an entire weekend! Just came across this idea of permaculture and its exactly what i have been looking for and sort of doing on my own already... I have been into this idea of homesteading and such and finally i was able to find the movement? that supports this and sustainability etc etc... Anyway... I'm really new at this.. Don't much know where to begin or start but would really like to start getting my hands dirty in all of it..

Forums and interwebz are great for quick info but im much more of a face to face kinda person and also highly believe a big part of this type of change involves communities and personal exchanges of knowledge & technique.. I think you guys get it?

Havent seen much activity from CT peoples on here yet... And i would really like to start pushing my community to embrace this stuff and spread the word... SO... any CT people out there wanna start some type of monthly meet up crew? Im sure we could all benefit from something like this? I would be willing to organize this thing if people are interested? Maybe even getting some workshops around here eventually and exciting things like that?

Also.. would definitely be interested in at some point working on some type of yearly New England conference? (if theres not any out there already? again, im new to this and havent spent real long looking around) in other words would be interested in working with MA, ME, VT, NH crews also?

let me know if anyone's interested!

so far i have 5 little acres... 12 chickens... a wife, two tiny ones, and a nice garden..

cant wait to get a lot more going...!
