That's the same thing I'm doing... I'm in roane County. I have bought an old 36 acre farm, and plan on adding pigs, dairy goats, and sheep to my system soon. I currently raise chickens, quail, and ducks.

i built a pretty good pen for my quail out using pallets. The cage itself is about 10 inches high and 6 inches shorter than the pallet on all sides, this allows plenty of room for around 30 quail. I made sure that the pen would be easy to move around to new grass as i needed. I normally stock 4 females to each male. I also keep several types of bantams so i hatch a couple of hundred quail a year use most for meat and replace the breeders every year or two. Just make sure and try to watch if any of the roos get too aggressive, if i have any that do i normaly go ahead and cull them. I love keeping mine for the meat, but i also love the pickled quail eggs, they are around the size of a large olive.

I am pretty new to the site and to permaculture as a whole, but have been reading as much information as i can for the past several months. I live in WV, and just wanted to see if there were any other people from WV on here.
