It is all 1/8 inch by 5 inch steel tube. The riser is insulated with 5 inch wide fire brick from the bottom of the J tube to with in 1 1/2 inches of the top. The barrel is a LP tank I salvaged from the scrap yard. So is the 5" tube. The exhaust is 6" from tractor supply. I have it running out the window temporary to make sure all is ok before putting a hole in the wall. I did have to make the exhaust stack 14 ' high due to the steep pitch of my roof, it kept back drafting. All in all it works great. The only draw back is I have to fill it every 30 to 40 minutes due to the size of the burn chamber. Plan on extending it soon. For now it's heating about 900 sq ft of my home and keeps it about 76 deg with the lid 1/8 inch open and the front breather holes wide open. The temps at the top of the stove are ranging from 400 to 550 deg. I picked up a ecofan 810 yesterday to set on top the stove and tried it last night for about 2 hours but had to shut it down due to it was hitting 80 deg in the house plus it was bed time and I don't run it then. It's a great project. I spent about 2 months researching on this site and all over the net to get my plan together. It's made from so many peoples suggestions that I can't remember them all. And by the way my wife loves it.
One more note: the band in the middle of the stove is a big band clamp to I can take the top off to clean it out which I did this morning and it makes it so easy to clean it took about 20 minutes but really was not dirty. About 1 1/2 quarts of ash after burning for about 35 hours. Hope all this helps.
Merry Xmas to all.
