Anything I have seen from Sepp Holzer is awesome and by now I have attended 5 seminars.
Last year, after being in California in Spring, I went to Austria during the summer to be on the Holzerhof and the Krameterhof. It was crucial that I was finally standing on a Sepp Holzer model farm. It made all the difference in understanding and FEELING it. Walking on kale and other greens following along the terrasses while just admiring all the fruits on the trees and bushes and tastings some of them, is an incredible experience. And I am going this year again, so I can see the changes from last year to this year!
I really hope that much more people will start understanding what difference it makes, when a project is planned properly. Sepp sets it up, so once he starts planting after having the property shaped optimally to keep the water on the land, it's easy in the future to build up and maintain. I really learned a lot from his DVD "Desert of Paradise" and yes I had to watch it several times to get the little details. But I got it! Having this huge concrete arch-gravity dam draining all the water out of the area above and dehydrating the surrounding and endangering everything in the valley as well, versus helping to fill up the earth with water and holding the water on the land and possibly even re-viving springs with Sepp's decentralized-systems, his way of creating a water landscape. It's a huge difference and the main thing to understand. This is what separates Sepp's work from everybody I have seen working with land creating permaculture paradises. He really focusses on keeping the water on the land by creating wonderful water landscapes.
I attached a nice plan he and his architect created for a future Anastasia-inspired Eco-Village. Maybe I have to move to Russia, so I can live there and have my own property (2.5 acres) - all these parcels with the houses on the map are these type of properties.
If you have not seen Sepp's movie and read the Anastasia books by Vladimir Megre (ringing Cedars of Russia), get on it. This is the only way, how I can see that we can successfully help to change the world.....and maybe I am just dreaming too big?
