Hey there permies.
I currently live in Greensboro, NC.
The other day my two best friends and I were in my car and I blocked off two people in a car from driving in the bike lane (i hate it when people do that.)
The car proceeded to barrel onto the sidewalk around me and ahead. As we passed them further up the road they were stopped and we were turning, we yelled at them.
They then followed us, drove up beside us and shot a pistol at us. I looked into this man's eyes as he shot a gun at me....Looking into his eyes, I saw the ignorance and evil of mankind. For me, life is a mystery. Nobody really knows what or why it is. This man tried to take that from me and my friends.
The bullet went through 3 sheets of metal before stopping, and the location of where it hit is unimaginably lucky.
Before this incident, my two friends and I have been trying to conceive a way of getting out of this dead beat city and moving to the country. This life changing event has only made it more evident that we have to get out as soon as possible.
I have been working at a plant nursery since February and gardening for about two years. However, because of this traumatizing incident I lost my job. My employers were already not happy with my customer service skills and after missing a day and not being fully engaged in the two days following the incident they decided to just "call it quits."
To say the least, its been a rough couple days.
I just wanted to throw this out there, but is there any permaculture living situation/organic farm job/manual labor/outdoors job suggestions for me and my two very smart and capable friends? We all love growing our own food and have experience in manual labor/landscaping/construction/etc.
I'm currently looking at WWOOF, carolina stewardship program, craigslist (of course) and The organic growers school, but me and my friends would like to find jobs within the same area preferably.
I don't know if this will help at all, but we have realized we want to live non-violent, artistic and loving lives where we grow food, work hard, make art, skateboard, and love each other.
