I have practised Permaculture for 30 years.
Along the way I went to a lecture by an acadamic who wanted to become a farmer. He researched lots of systems of agriculture and settled on biodynamics.
Being an acadamic he had to measure and record everything as he went along.
This was the basis of the lecture. My father was a very skilled farmer. In my childhood I walked on many farms, knew ours intimately. I knew what hard soil felt like, humus, and soil profiles as I had dug many. I worked as a permaculture design consultant for some years, often on acreages.
When I saw the increase in TOPSOIL depth and root spread and depth after three years in his pictures I was amazed and thrilled at the possibility of what could happen in regenerative farming using biodynamics.
So... I am still a permaculturist and I practise biodynamics as well and am still amazed at changes I see that I could not achieve by organics or permaculture alone. It really is the cream on the cake!
