Hi. I’m new to the site. My husband and I live outside of Raleigh on 1/2 acre, but it’s certainly not enough. We have 15 hens and 1 rooster, a pool for the kids, and a huge garden. In the summer, this place is bustling with kids, dogs, chickens, bees, plants, and other creatures. My garden is always bustling with tomatoes and other nightshades, herbs, eggplant, cantaloupe, beans, you name it. In the fall/winter I do kale, lettuce, garlic, and have done brussel sprouts. My problem is, I don’t want to plant 30 garlic. I want to plant 300, but I just don’t have the room.
We recently purchased 48 acres in West Tennessee, but we have to plan everything to move there. My brother in law and father in law are coming too, so we all have to figure out housing.
I am soooooo incredibly excited to move though. I want some cows and goats so I can make my own cheese. I want some silkie and polish chickens. I want to try my hand at beekeeping and have a whole acre field for wildflowers and another one for sunflowers.
I love being outside and we’re just biding our time until we can get out there.
