Rachel Scharack wrote:I've been dreaming of the permaculture/homesteading life my whole life.... playing banjo and singing, doing crafty things like sewing.....  have degree in mechanic...  So I'm playing with the idea of building myself a tiny stone house in the woods (currently just starting learning about stone masonry)
Hopefully this was a useful ramble in giving an idea about who I am and enough to get you interested so we can ask eachother more questions.
Oh yeah, I'm from Kentucky and kind of feel an attachment to staying in the Appalachian region, but if you're able to convince me that you're the one, I'm open to relocating.
Happy days to you! Look forward to hearing from someone

So I shortened the quote to highlight a couple points/common ground.
Hi, My name is **** (I'll tell you in private if you respond) I'm working on constructing a little homestead in the southern most tip of the Appalachian Foothills and area known as the winding staircase mountains of Southeastern Oklahoma (although having grown up in the Rockies I wouldn't necessarily call these mountains) I'm looking for someone to join me in this new adventure life has me on. I wanted to reach out to you to see if you'd be interested in talking. I've turned wrenches all my life as far back as I can remember probably about age 6 or 7 when I started and I currently make my living as a mobile mechanic working in the field or on location wherever a vehicle or machine has broken down. I study automotive mechanics at New Mexico State University where I received my ASE certification and then moved on and studied aviation mechanics at Spartan school of aeronautics up till 9/11 when life suddenly decided to send me on a different journey.
I'm  now studding stone masonry particularly in the field of sandstone and Clay construction while laying out and beginning to construct a stone wall raised bed garden And although I do have my love of guitar and banjo I've never learned to play so I got into audio and enjoy music and movies especially if I can get the movie theater sound effects 😉
So I'm able to locate and view read etc my previously listed posts but I'm not finding a method to edit them if I'm overlooking something please let me know by sending me a purple moosage

Roger Klawinski wrote:Hello! New to this site, although I had (most) of the permaculture basics down pat prior to joining.

My question involves land.

I am finding cheap land everywhere; problem is, it appears it does not allow for unrestricted use. When I mean "unrestricted", I am talking about free to put a tiny house (190 to 340 square feet) and composting toilet system (to name a few) on the property without having an assessor or zoning board on my tail.

What I am seeing is that the land may be YOURS once purchased, but dwellings must be 600 square feet or greater, no camping longer than 7 days per month without a permit, RVs are restricted, mobile homes need a permit, yada yada. I think in Colorado you have to purchase rights to water prior to drilling for it.

Where can I find land with NO RESTRICTIONS on use?

Any leads or insight would be great.

Have you found what you were looking for yet if not check out www.classiccountryland.com and look at land for sale in Oklahoma. Oklahoma is very Homestead friendly and a lot of the lands do not have the restrictions for instance where I'm at we don't even have restrictions as to how we can live what we do with our land or what type of structures we build nor are we even required permits for construction.

Well not exactly sure how any of this apple stuff works at one point I thought I had two but now I only have one so I guess I may have lost one somewhere along the way which doesn't give me enough to vote for my favorites on your post. So I figured I'd just respond by letting you know that my favorite things to grow include okra number one bell peppers squash tomatoes green chili jalapenos watermelon cantaloupe any fruit tree I can get growing Sweet Basil parsley and oregano as those last three are my favorite seasonings for my meals.
But there are so many more on your list that I enjoy having in a garden and on my table that there just isn't enough room to list it without creating a whole new post
