Full-time RVer. Husband and I are DIYers by necessity. Currently staionary in SE US.
Grew up in Appalachian foothills. Want to settle higher in the Appalachians.
Current interests:
camper living, sewing, frugality, cleaner/simpler nutrition, kinder personal care, practicing nature observation, complex-PTSD recovery/reparenting/self-growth, bodyweight/functional fitness (via GMB Elements), thrifting, self-guided broad-range education, delightfully watching husband's garden experiments, bokashi
Currently educating myself in:
soil building/rehabbing, low tech where practical, working with natural systems, food preservation, navigating bureaucracy, growing on slopes, natural fibers/fabrics, adding texture to land, lazy polyculture, landrace gardening
Purpose:
feed ourselves and others better quality food than we've ever had before, live untethered from "we do it thusly b/c we've always done it thusly," and "you must depend on us and do it our way," leave wherever I am/have been better than I find it

I think putting an indicator right in the table is kind of elegant (for someone scrolling through it at least), but adding a post does the job most simply (especially for someone who's already watching the thread).

If I may piggyback on it a bit -
it's possible* to put an indicator right in the table for new entries.
*possible, as long as it doesn't add too much time or complication to the process

all about garlic!

This thread is quality! Lots of experience and knowledge pooled here. May I wake it up with a few questions?

Where are you planting your garlic this time around?

What other plants will it be close to?

What bits of it do you use the most? (bulbs, scapes, bulbils, flowers, or seeds)

Which insects have you noticed around your garlic?

For anyone with garlic landrace projects, or growing garlic from seed in general, how is that going?

Our garlic grows in and open and sunny spot, between (but not so close to) the fig bush and the sweet potato box. We let it flower this year and enjoyed using the tiny blooms in the kitchen, or just eating them off the plant. I loved how they were like little pops of flavor! Bees and wasps visited our flowers the most. The fuzzy bumblebees seemed to like to stay a while.

Welcome to posting, Sandi!
I'm looking forward to hearing how the avocados fare in the greenhouse, from a fellow Zone 8 resident (though a fair bit north of you).
We let our garlic flower this year - I so enjoyed those little bursts of flavor this summer! They really drew in the pollinators, too.
