Some of my primary questions for Paul that I would like to cover in the discussion. I will keep editing this post throughout the week as things keep popping into my head:
First of all, looking at the property and what is there, what do you like and not like? What jumps out at you as needing to be changed?I have 6+ dead ash trees to cut down and plan to use the big pieces for hugekultur mounds, how would you lay out additional mounds?Where to get soil/compost for hugelkultur mounds? I will need A LOT and I don't know that I can make big depressions due to drainage regulations. I have confirmed a local supplier uses bioassays to screen for persistent herbicides and had great results from their compost last yearWhere would you add fruit trees / raspberries / blueberries to this setup? What would be your go-to perennials to add for someone at this stage and where would you put them? What would you add to feed the chickens and where would you put it?What would you grow to use as mulch since you don't like chips and the automower mulches the clover and grass back into the lawn? Where? The 4x back beds were built with some branches, sticks, and leaves, then compost/soil mix on top. Would you advocate piling wood in the 100'x5' back bed along the fence and covering?Would you recommend adding hugelkultur mounds or other beds inside the back fence with enough clearance for the existing fence crops to not shade them out?Would you recommend grafting apple branches on to any of my established crabapple trees?Any thoughts on cultivation of the black locust trees?
Bonus if we get through all this:
I would love to discuss my plans for a
rocket mass hot tub and a possible sepper visit to wheaton labs
