WATER IS LIFE...WHEREVER IT"S POSSIBLE YOU SHOULD MAKE RETENTION SPACES AND COLLECT THE WATER
AND RELEARN WITH THE WATER, HOW TO MAINTAIN A BALANCE...THIS IS THE MOST IMPORTANT THING...
BECAUSE ONCE YOU HAVE CREATED THE RIGHT HYDROLOGICAL BALANCE 70% OF THE WORK IS DONE!!!
YOU HELP RICH VEGETATION TO DEVELOP, DIVERSITY, BECAUSE NATURE CAN REVEAL IT"S SELF AND DEVELOP IN THE RIGHT WAY"

NATURE SHOWS YOU HOW THIS WORKS, YOU JUST HAVE TO ASK HER, TO CONTACT HER, TO COMMUNICATE WITH HER,
THEN YOU WILL BE FINE ANYWHERE ON EARTH, ASK NATURE, THINK WITH HER...AND NOT AGAINST HER, PUT YOURSELF IN HER PLACE,
AND YOU GET ALL THE ANSWERS YOU NEED, MAKE ROOM IN YOUR HEAD SO NATURAL THINKING HAS SPACE TO HAPPEN...

Love these words, thanks Sepp...
Hi Folks
Any experience with which plants work well to inhibit couch grass, would be well appreciated...

It's a paradox...A or B?...yet in my mind, it's both...
I believe...We need to purify our selves and the earth right where we are BEFORE we start to live lives in another place...
I for one do not have the kind of experience or skill necessary to create/live-in an eco-village...Yet I dream to create one/live-in one...
I see the city as a kind of training ground, a place to learn the skills, to be an example of a new/ancient/sane way of life!

What about Bamboo? It grows fast and densly, but i've heard very hot and quickly...
i found these quotes:

"Bamboo, when used as fire wood, produces more btu per weight than hardwood and makes less ash. "

"Bamboo charcoal will maintain a constant heat longer than hardwood charcoal."

What does everyone think?

OK, I am going to lose you here, most likely... I have surrendered to the truth that the earth owns me. I participate in the charade that I own property, I must with the current societal condition. I am very suspicious that the current condition is about to come apart. Most people expect blood in the streets and chaos, I expect a new love based paradigm to emerge also. Maybe instead, if people catch on and embrace it, but that seems unlikely. When the new society is formed, I will be telling folks about "property stewardship." Maybe if I tell the hungry people my story over the dinner I grew and fed them, they might hear me.
And in the interim, the answer is "sell the food." Knowledge is what we need to freely exchange, and seed / rootstock out to be given out like an old school 'barn raising" to people ready to spread the Garden. I hope to always be able to give food to hungry people who come to my door, but if I need to barter, food is a real commodity, and I will use it.
Oh, and heirloom seed will be more valuable than gold in our lifetime, I suspect.
Idealistic? Yes, and I compromise just about every time I breathe. But not impossible, and if I compromise without trying for the ideal, I sold out.

There is nothing to fear...really, people will recognize their natural right to stewardship...it is inevitable.
Also consider growing fruit trees from seed,(those that grow true-to-type) this will be alot cheaper way, they may take longer to bear, but they will be healthier and live longer than their grafted cousins!
Peace

I have a neighbours trees, it's a great old golden elm, it has a couple holes at 30-45 degree angle from horizontal. Don't know how long they been cut for but they have rotted inside a fair bit. i dug in a bit and there where some bugs in there too...
They are near the base i'm imagining this could eventually compromise the structural strenght of the tree and could be dangerous??
Could this be sealed with Clay??
Anyone with any exp. or ideas would be greatly appreciated
Thanks

The addition of chooks to the backyard and seed/grain and food scraps in their pen has attracted a lot of birds, sparrows, Indian minors, but mostly pigeons, the pigeons like to scratch though the veggie garden makeing a small mess (nothing like the chooks can) we put up some shiny owl deterants that worked for about a week…until they realized they were plastic, lol.. Today however I observed when my little Jack Russell “MACK” went past them they flew away fast. This got me thinking…
I could train MACK to chase the pigeons when she see them, I imagine they will eventual take a disliking to the area, after multiple experiences of being chased and will move onto safer ground.
I believe this PATTERN could be applied in many instances.

Problem: Unwanted “Pest” animal in unwanted place destroying/messing/attacking something,
Soloution: Natural “predator” something they are afraid of that can be trained or naturally responds.
It’s open to applications, that’s what the thread is for to see if this is a useful PATTERN,
And how people have applied is various contexts…
