Hello Wisconsinites!
My boyfriend and I want to start an off-grid homestead (building our house ourselves) and we're hoping to find forested land (10+ acres) in southwestern Wisconsin. We're trying to narrow down our search before we do things like visit in person, contact a realtor, contact the county office etc, and are looking for help to figure out where in Wisconsin we'd find like-minded people. What counties do you SW Wisconsiners live in? Are there any counties in particular that are more open to off-grid green building techniques?
