Biography
It was in Spring of 2011, in Napa, CA, that Alisha M. Forrester Scott first began to notice that bees were dying.  In fact, it was easy to notice, because different types of bees would land and die right in front of her eyes.

After several of these occurrences, Alisha was disturbed enough to do some online research.  Research results:  mites, disease, chemical usage, and Colony Collapse Disorder remain relevant factors in the mass decline of global bee populations.  It was at that moment of awareness that Alisha’s life positively changed.

In the summer of 2012, and with the help and encouragement of Spencer Beckert, Donald (“Don Bee”) Hughes, Forest Stearns, Pedro Reyes, Humphrey Angeles, Kiana Prema, Rock Martinez, and Brandon Jackson, Pollinator Support Movement (PSM) was founded in Oakland, CA, by Alisha M. Forrester Scott (“Alisha Bee”).

Albuquerque Film & Media Experience (AFME) is June 3-9 in New Mexico. (http://abqfilmfestival.com)

This inaugural film festival, favored by Robert Redford, have invited the Pollinator Support Movement (PSM) collective to present "BeeSWeek 2013: Scientific and Community Panel Forums" on campus at University of New Mexico. The mission of PSM is to save and restore bees and the food supply chain. BeeSWeek at UNM equates to A dozen+ expert-professionals, an award-winning journalist-as-moderator, a 200 seat state-of-the-art auditorium at the University of New Mexico, and two days of "to be historic" conversation about bees and our North American food supply chain.

Description: The BeeSWeek panel forum events will focus on solutions-based framework designed to protect the North American food supply. Our dependence on Honey bees as primary pollinators in most of our crops is a troubling reality. As this pollinator is failing, solutions are needed quickly. Four (4) panel discussions with expert-professionals and two (2) presentations by keynote speakers will communicate the current North American bees situation, and will discuss the design and implementation of a more robust and sustainable industrial pollination solution set.

OFFICIAL SCHEDULE OF EVENTS
Location: UNM Science and Math Learning Center Auditorium with Moderator, Tina Quizon

MONDAY, JUNE 3
10 am - 12 pm: Keynote Speaker, Dr. Valerie Solheim
1:15 - 4:30 pm: Panel Forum Discussions

1. State of the beeS address: The current situation of our available pollinators used today in North American crops

2. An analysis of four bee industries: Lessons and experiences of currently managed types of bees

TUESDAY, JUNE 4
10 am - 12 pm: Keynote Speaker, Mr. Paul Wheaton
1:15 - 4:30 pm: Panel Forum Discussions

3. A discussion of today’s practices from the perspectives of the farmer and the pollinating contractor: The farmer’s usage of chemicals, their available expertise, and known, potential, and sustainable alternatives

4. BeeGAP (Gardeners Adding Pollinators) as a keystone home garden solution: A grassroots, collaborative effort teaching gardeners to create healthy yards, natural bee habitats, raise solitary bees to assist the farmer in crop pollination, and ultimately assist in wholesome food production

TICKETING
Ticket sales to the University of New Mexico events will range from $15-25 per ticket, and all proceeds will assist in production costs. For interested patrons that are unable to personally attend, remote (online) viewing passes will be available for $5.
