Thank you! Thomas Rubin.
It worked! I think you were right about the bricks getting hot.

How do you prevent the ash build up when getting it hot and how do others sticks not smoke? Is there a size that is best…..like .5 inch above feed tube and no more?

Thanks again!

After putting it in the barrel and it not working I took it apart and put it together outside. Shortening the burn chamber gave me a cleaner burn so I put it back together in the barrel with the shorter burn chamber.

Now it wont burn like a J Tube though. I am getting smoke back.

My feed height is 8”
Burn tunnel is almost 16” the riser is a 5 minute riser on with 8” stove pipe and ceramic fiber in the middle.

I hav built at least 3 rocket stoves attempting to get a j tube to no success. I always end up removing the end of the J and using a L

I keep testing it without the cob with little success. I am trying to make sure it will work before I use the cob. It should work without the cob, though. Right?

Hello Uncle Mud,

I tried harmonizing the sauna rocket plans with the cuts you sent me. The plans say the riser should sit in 5”. That is confusing me the most. Should I just forget about that part.

Thank you, Chris. That would be awesome! I have 40 fire brick, splits.

I am building the sauna rocket right now, too. I bought the plans. I am having the most difficulty with figuring out how to lay  the bricks. I am using the fire brick splits that are 4.5x1.25x9. I am hoping I can get by without cutting very many. I haven’t cut any yet, though. I have been worried about that. Could someone share a diagram of sorts? In the pictures it looks like there is a picture of the feed tub sitting up in the 4.5 side and the bottom of the riser laying on the flat side, the 1.25 side. Is that the way to go?

Thanks in advance,
Jamey

Please forgive me in if I missed this question somewhere. I am attempting to use a 4 foot riser for a 6" system but I was hoping to use a smaller barrel. Do I simply build the cob up around the riser and have the exhaust come out higher than usual?

It is a sad day on my small farm as one of my saanen goats has died. I only had two. We gave up on milking goats because no one liked the 'flavor' of the milk. So we bought a cow last June. If I had a goat die, should I be worried about my cow? What should I do if I should be. I have had cows before but on a bigger piece of property. Currently I have this cow on one acre.

Sincerely,
Jamey
