Thanks for the advice.

I got the tomato seeds from a can/tin of organic chopped tomatoes.
I got the chilli seeds from chillies I bought at the supermarket.

It's still pretty cold here in Belfast, Northern Ireland. Temperatures dropped to 2 C/35 F a couple of days ago. Even in a cold frame I think it would be too cold for tomatoes and chillies.
I started growing tomato and chilli plants in small yogurt containers. I should have transplanted them into bigger containers at least a month ago. Some are now starting to flower and am wondering if I should transplant them now or transplant them at a later date. I understand that transplanting = stress on the plants. I am growing these plants on my bedroom windowsill. If I transplant, would I be better warming the soil/compost first?

I appreciate any help as this is my first year of attempting to grow my own food.
I am thinking of planting hairy st. john's wort in a small planter along with spinach, leek and peas.

So far I haven't found any information about st. john's wort as a companion plant.

I would greatly appreciate any advice.

I've decided just to buy some worms and make a standard size worm bin.

Thanks for all your help and advice.

I only have about 4-5 worms that I have put in a small 500ml tub, with holes in the top and bottom.
I have added some chopped up cardboard, coffee grounds and some compost.

Will this work on such a small scale?

I am slowly adding more worms as I find them in the garden.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for the replies.

I had an idea that there would be either very little or no aerobic bacteria/microorganisms due to the lact of air.

Does store bought compost in sealed plastic bags contain bacteria and other microorganisms?

Thanks in advance
