The first site is actually a designated park in my city that has not been maintained or improved. I actually used this park for my design when i took Lawtons online course. The plan would be to approach the city with the design and with a combination of crowd funding, local funding, grants, and a minor city funding this would be the first site and using the success of that site attempt to grow to more locations.

I have been kicking around the idea of what I want to do with permaculture for a while. I've read a lot in regards to the idea that you should find your niche in permaculture as it pertains to your area and start with that. MY idea would be starting a corporation that would umbrella various aspects of permaculture. Ideally the original venture for this company would being purchasing land lots in urban areas and creating edible parks. Each park would serve as a site demonstration that would directly relate to the surrounding areas. The park would be designed in a way that would allow the beauty of nature to be the centerpiece. All food would be sold at a farm stand on the park as well as local farmers markets. The plan would hopefully provide low cost high quality food that is readily available for those in the community. People can pay to become members of the park and help in maintaining it or the development of new income streams for the park and members. After a certain point the Park would be discharged from the main corporation to the members of that park in a form of franchising. Ultimately a percentage would be required from the park that would help fund future projects and the remaining surplus would be distributed amongst the members.

This company would build off of the initial venture to the point where it can fund micro-enterprises that would cover other permaculture niches. Ideas such as rain water harvesting, restaurants, energy , animals, etc. (basically Permies forum in real life).

This is a very rough basic idea and i have more in depth details to those who would like to hear more. I was just hoping to gauge what other people thought. Thanks for your time and input!

Hello Permies.

I joined a while ago and being that I have never posted but consistently dig through the forums for info I have decided that its time to introduce myself.

Here is who I am in a nut shell.

I am a young man who is originally from Florida. Growing up I loved nature and I couldn't get enough of it. Slowly and surely I was sucked in to the mainstream mind and it is what led me 2000 miles away to California. When I was younger my goals were simple, be a millionaire, have a large house, drive a rolls royce phantom ( which I must admit I still love), and use my millions to chase all my dreams and endeavors. I moved to California to go to school and make my dreams a reality. Florida is where I grew up and California is where life happened. In a span of 4 years I went from feeling that anything was possible to feeling that everything was hopeless. Family issues forced me to literally overnight start supporting myself. Being a young college kid who loved booze and pot you can imagine that I was very successful at managing my expenses. I dropped out of college to work more and eventually found myself with no money, no home, no degree, no job,and no hope. This is right around the time I found permaculture. I like to describe my discovery of permaculture as something that found its way deep into my being awoke the child in me who in turn kicked my own a**. I luckily started dating an amazing girl who was supportive and helped. Her family also offered me their home which Is where I currently reside. After being unemployed for about 6 months I got a job and used my first paycheck to take Geoff Lawtons Online PDC. Throughout this whole time Ive been reading as much as possible often daydreaming about the future I want for myself homesteading and living in the nature that I love. Now I am just planning and saving. Having to start from having zero has definitely been a challenge but I am determined that I will leave this modern day slavery one day and start the next chapter in my epic journey of life. I find my self luckily only having student loan debt and unfortunately having student loan debt. My current goal is to get debt free and start setting the stage for the other goals. Well thats all I can seem to fit in this nutshell.

Thank you all who post! Your information has been helpful throughout the last couple of years and I can't wait to start building relationships and contributing to an amazing online community.
