I am a freelance writer, researcher, photographer and solo-entrepreneur from Tobago, Trinidad and Tobago. I specialize in providing high quality freelance writing (grants, proposals, articles, photo essays, photo books) and photography services that gives voice to emerging and cutting-edge issues with an intention of motivating discussions, affecting change and offering new insights and hope for individuals, groups, organizations and companies involved in agriculture, permaculture, aquaculture, farming, rural life, environment, conservation, horticulture and gardening; as well as highlighting and showcasing the talents, accomplishments and successes of individuals (students, farmers, florists, agriculturalists, environmentalists, gardeners and others) and groups and the organizations and the companies vision, mission and outreach development programs and activities; as it relates to agriculture, permaculture, aquaculture, farming, rural life, environment, conservation, horticulture and gardening.
I am working on a documentary photography proposal on women in agriculture, permaculture, aquaculture, farming, rural life, environment, conservation, horticulture and gardening, across the Caribbean.
Overview of the project:
The project will be focusing on documenting the rise of women in agriculture, permaculture, aquaculture, farming, rural life, environment, conservation, horticulture and gardening.
The women are either agriculturalists, farmers, gardeners, vendors, student, florists, environmentalists, researchers, consultants, writers, fisher folks, or owners of farms, agricultural estates, or women-owned groups, organizations and companies in the agriculture, permaculture, aquaculture, farming, rural life, environment, conservation, horticulture and gardening.
Women has always played a pivotal role in agriculture and rural development; and with the absence of men in most of the homes, especially the rural households, has force women to seek additional ways and means of earning income to maintain themselves and their families. It is out of this necessity that farming the land is and has become an increasingly important means for survival in rural communities, especially for women. It is therefore not coincidental that large numbers of women work along the entire agricultural value chain, and make significant contributions to family income and economic well-being.
The mission and vision of the project is simple, and that is in documenting the rise of women in agriculture, permaculture, aquaculture, farming, rural life, environment, conservation, horticulture and gardening; and hoping to provide inspiration to the next generation of women agriculturalists, by shining the light on the work that these women are doing, and to help build community amongst them.
Therefore, it is very important to gain consent from each women working in agriculture permaculture, aquaculture, farming, rural life, environment, conservation, horticulture and gardening for my Documentary Photography Project, inclusive of photo essay and a photo book. I will be using photographs, interviews and their stories.
