Hi Folks,

Have any of you permies working in Central America, South America, or Africa (especially eastern Africa), used any soil testing labs in those places?

I am specifically looking for a place that can do basic soil tests, including (most importantly) Soil Organic Matter by percentage. (aka Soil Carbon, Soil Organic Carbon. Specifically I'd like a dry weight combustion test)

Any recommendations?

Thanks,
Ethan

Hey everyone, I am part of project called The Apios Institute (www.apiosinstitute.org), which exists to share experience and knowledge about multistrata agroforestry systems (a.k.a. homegardens, food forests, and forest gardens), through a collaborative network of farmers, gardeners, and researchers, in order to fill critical knowledge gaps regarding the design and management of these systems.

Last week we launched an Indiegogo crowd-funding campaign to expand and improve our wiki of perennial-crop polycultures. We are raising $10,000 to complete the development of Apios 3.0, which will see the revamping of their platform from the ground up, implementing new features, an intuitive user-interface, improved database structure, and more!

I'd like to invite you to participate any way you can with this campaign: contribute money, offer help, or forward the campaign to your network.

Hi All! I am researching corn production, aiming to gather the best current thinking about permaculture & regenerative approaches.

In your opinion, who are the top people that would be good for me to talk with? Especially folks who are:

1. Home-scale or small-scale producers growing corn with excellent permaculture or regenerative practices
2. Larger-scale farmers growing significant quantities of corn, innovating towards permaculture
3. Ecological / permaculture / regenerative Ag researchers who are really geeky about corn

Thanks!
