Thanks Abbey
We spent the weekend planting 15 or so fruit trees. I think the veggie garden is next.

Not wanting to do anything over the top. Just something the kids can get involved in helping with. We all did enjoy planting trees together.

Have been looking at potentially getting some electric fence for goats and pigs to help get rid of the lantana.

Cheers

Hi I am new to the forum and learning fast.
We live on a  92 acre property , 90 of which is heavily wooded with eucalypts and ironbark type trees. (central coast nsw Australia)
·        There is 30acres overgrown with lantana on high areas where light has penetrated the canopy. Down near the creeks is primarily covered with ferns. Generally difficult to walk through anywhere but I have started building trails for motorbike access.
·        50m diameter dam (thinking of stocking with yabbies or mussels).
·        There is a significant slope on most of the block (100m between highest and lowest point).
·        Slopes facing most compass points can be found.
·        Soil is black clay type soil with lots of worms everywhere when digging. There is shallow sandstone in places.

I’m hoping to utilise the wooded area for food production (shiitake mushrooms seem possible, maybe some nut trees) rather than planting out the 2 acres that has been cleared.
Very open to any ideas on what to do with the place.
Cheers
Dan.
