Hi Aaron,
Thanks for your interest.  Carpentry and agricultural skills would be really helpful.  We'd love to hear about you vision. There are two other people interested so far.  We are thinking of starting some type of conversation among us and interested people to clarify  intentions, timeframes, possibilities for living spaces, and so on.  Maybe  a facebook group?

Hope to hear from you. You can call if you want at 573-696-0474.

Emmet

Meanwhile, here`s a description we wrote for people to get an an idea...

(from Gretchen)
My husband Emmet (62) and myself (54) moved here 7 years ago and have been developing gardens on one of the lots.  They are very well established permaculture/forest/kitchen garden type gardens and we have been supplying 90 percent of our produce now for 2 years.  We would love to share that bounty with others who also want to share in that way.  Communal sharing would be awesome.
Ecologically we are Luddite minded, though we are not off the grid as our house is conventional, we use lawn mowers and power tools etc. ….we have put all of our energy so far into the gardens.  But we have compost toilets (to keep the lagoon clean of black water and because it is amazing soil... (I saw a heron land in the lagoon/wetland last summer), wash clothing by hand, etc...do the best we can with 2 people.
We have both lived in community, Emmet for many years, and are community minded, hoping that we can find dependable people who want to come together and preserve this land and create joy, abundance,  and friendship together.
(from Emmet)
The land is not secluded, though very quiet, wooded and has a lot of native plant diversity.  It`s located in an area where for more or less a mile in each direction there`s more woods than not, and gravel roads.  We`re on a subdivision road, with about a dozen homes on lots averaging 10 acres.  We have two lots next to the one we live on.  Most of the area of both lots slope generally down from the road to a bottom land that`s maybe a quarter of each lot, with a seasonal creek running through it.  The general slope is rippled, creating numerous ridges and valleys.

The closer lot is 10 acres, has a pond near the top that`s maybe 100`x 150` dug by the previous owner,  and nothing else done with it. There`s a beautiful cedar grove on it.

The lot past that is 14.48 acres, and has a metal building on a slab, 30’x40’.  The  power co. has a transformer box set up 20’ away. It just needs electric service run from there to the building.  The building  is wired and lined with stout shelving.  There`s a water meter and hydrant about 40’ away.  There`s a driveway that comes in a ways to the building, and continues on to a clearing, about ½ acre, slightly sloping to the south, west, and north. It would be suitable for building, agriculture, or animals.    There are other uncleared possible building sites on both parcels.

We've been developing permaculture/forest/kitchen gardens for 7 years and are growing about 90 percent of our fruits and vegetables.  We've started adding more flowers now and sold flower arrangements at our local farmer's market last year. The land is mostly wooded hickory-oak forest with wonderful native plant diversity about 30 minutes north of Columbia, Missouri. We would love to find warm, compassionate, responsible, and thoughtful people interested in building new structures and sharing the love of garden and animal care. If you are interested let us know and we'll send more details about us and the land.
