This is a very specific request but I am inspired by the "pushing the Zone" discussion. I have/use two parcels of land in Florida. On is in zone 9b (Tampa area) the other is in 9a (nature coast) We can grow tropical plants in 9b with no issue, bananas, pineapple, papaya, guava as we have only had 1 night of freezing temps in 4 years. However, our 9a property receives several frosts each winter. Im looking for suggestions on great, durable, high yield plants that can tolerate the 9a freezes, or will manage with a little zone-pushing habitat alteration.

I use wool to create needle felted sculptures. The "grade" of the fiber really does't affect the quality of the finished piece. Different types, textures and staple lengths provide variety in the medium. I sell my needle felted "crafts" at Street Fairs and also exhibit my "fine art" sculptures in galleries.

I have purchased wool that was processed and carded by individuals from LocalHarvest.com in various degrees of quality and been able to use it all for my artwork. I do prefer a consistent roving as its the easiest to work with.

Perhaps you could look into selling the carded wool on Etsy as an Art Supply. I have browsed and shopped for wool on the site. The seller profile on Etsy has a platform to tell you story. You could really talk up the "sustainable" "recycled" aspect of the wool you are saving from being wasted and that would encourage conscious crafters to choose your product. There are also LOTS of Needle Felters on Etsy who you could connect with as a supplier.

I live in a subtropical climate in SW Florida. I would like to establish guilds around my tropical fruit trees but have not found any specific advice online. Does anyone have experience using lychee, guava and carambola in their food forest? What are some symbiotic tropical plants? I already use Pigeon Pea shrubs for food/nitrogen but would like to integrate more diverse plants.

I am interested in participating in some hands-on permaculture training but not sure where to begin. I would LOVE to be a part of an intensive PDC program but find that kind of commitment hard at this time because of family and financial reasons. I was wondering if anyone has insight about what other kinds of opportunities I should search for. My main interest is in-person, teaching. I am in central Florida, any region-specific information would be appreciated.
