Growing up in urban Rotterdam (second largest city in The Netherlands) I could have never imagined myself ending up somewhere in the middle of nowhere in rural France, making a living growing vegetables.

Yet, here I am.

Together with my wife and 2-year old daughter, we run a small-scale organic no-dig market garden on a mere third of an acre.

After making the decision in early 2013 to leave behind my comfort zone and to start traveling, I’ve had the privilege to work on many farms in countries like Australia, New Zealand, Canada, and some parts of Europe.

Taking the experience from the time spent and working on those farms, we’ve been able to leverage it to start our own farm on rented land in a small town in rural France.  

Honestly, the road was not always easy. Establishing a farm whilst taking care of a new born, having to install all the infrastructure (irrigation, growing beds, greenhouses, post harvest station etc.) can be quite stressful at times!

But at the end of the day, it has all been worth it!

The hard work payed off and we’re now able to sustain ourselves financially with our small farm, and we eat an abundance of healthy food we’re growing!

I’ve decided to start a YouTube channel to share my experiences and hopefully through my videos, I can help other individuals and families get started in their journeys of starting small scale profitable farms.

In the video below, I’ll go over the exact same step-by-step that we’ve followed to start our farm and that allowed us to work towards making a living from it.

I am getting up the nerve to try this 'cloud' thing, i have to go that route for the app to read this as i am using the chrome operating system.  the system is great for the net, i have never gotten a virus and but  printing is hard and some  things  do not work well with the chrome os,  but usually not a problem.

Hi Paul, sorry to hear from your previous experiences using these types of software. Some of these applications and software can indeed take some time to get the hang of, and is not always as clear as just pressing a button.

As of now, I'm converting the book into a pdf file which is going to take a little bit of time since the whole layout of the book will be changed once converted. So I'll have to do it manually page by page if I want it to look at least a bit decent.

I'll let you know once it's ready. In the meantime I hope you'll be able to use the Chrome OS to read the book.
