Only salt?

I used a mix of washing soda, baking soda, citric acid and a bar of soap. It is ok but after a week or so it is hard as a rock. I have been using oasis brand laundry detergent too and it is ok.

The recipe I used came from a book called  "Making Soap: 18 Luxurious Soaps to Make and Give Using Natural Ingredients" page 47.

A cancellation button does exist. Go to your pie console, locate your subscription, and click the "X" button at the top right corner of it.

A very big Thank You! That is one thing off my todo list for today.
As many people have say the automatically buy pie every month needs to be changed. I just bought pie and I am now trying to not automatically buy pie every month. There needs to be a cancel button somewhere so if this happens again it would be easy to fix. I feel having an option of buy X pie every month is the way to go. Or have the automatically buy pie every month in the off position to begin with that way people would not make the mistake I did the other day.  Also, I feel it is a Richard move to have the automatically buy pie every month on to begin with.

It is not a big deal right now to have it buy every month but I will be changing this soon, like before the end of this month. On the whole it looks good.

I have a plan for how I am going to get the wood up. Now I am stuck on how to waterproof the wood.

Carnauba wax looked like it could work so I tried it. Since the melting point is 180F that is higher than what a person would take a shower or bath. After doing a test on wood the wax did not do well. When applied as a light layer it did protect the wood from water but solidified fast. Also if not done well the wax would crack.

Linseed oil and Turpentine (1:1)  I do not know if this mix would do well in a bathroom. If you have used it please let me know the details. Thanks.

Any other ways to waterproof wood please post!

I say in six months we could be looking at ai's bubble bursting.

Why and how?

Think about the following after the USSR collapsed, where did the engineers, people in science go to? Any place that would pay well.

If company lays off all of there software engineers, corporate workers and other people in related fields. Who built the AI to takes over there jobs. Would you as a unemployed AI software engineer want to F with the AI. To quote Paul Atreides "He who can destroy a thing, controls a thing".  Software engineers could have back doors into the AI. Corporate workers would know a few things that could take out the AI.

With that in mind here is what I think will happen in the next few months.

1. AI will work for about a month or so. When black Friday (a big shopping day) happens in the USA 28 November 2025 issues will start small then grow bigger. The AI system may go down, consumers mad at companies lack of service and companies mad because of lost money. Then a "fix" will happen and it would look like things are working better. Rumors of groups or people hacking AI systems could start at this time

2. In January 2026, reports from the Christmas season would show a drop in buying due to the AI not working well. Consumers returning items now very mad at the AI service. Talk of a boycott of companies that use AI begin and reports of AI hacking are in the news. Companies reports less earning than last year, CEO publicly talk about again fixing issues with AI.

3. Months later groups or people who worked in AI do TV, podcasts etc. do tell alls. Companies report earning down again and may look into rehiring people that they tried to replace with AI. Unemployed workers now have jobs at the competitors trying to break the AI that they built at the old company. Some places promote AI free and talk to a real person.

In short, if you have a garden, rocket oven and a ok job that is hard to be replaced by AI. Then sit back and watch the fireworks. If not start a garden, build a rocket oven, build a nest egg, learn more skills.

There is no panacea to life the universe and everything. In 2009, I got my BA in History. I thought that people would be wanting to hire me, after two years no job. In 2025, after a long (too long to talk about it here) road I have an ok job, planning my ERE, building skills and thinking about the next ten years.

Ok sounds like a good idea.

So I have been looking at a all in one 10 Gallon electric brewing system. It is smaller than the dryer and I feel this would be more useful in up coming projects. Some ideas I have had is to sous vide foods, making mushroom substrate and of course brewing beer.

Deane Adams wrote:If you have the space how about an outdoor line or two?  That's all I use these days and a line in the basement.  But I live alone and only do laundry every two weeks or so.  Also I can use an indoor folding dryer rack near my new wood stove.

Peace

I have an indoor folding rack and I have a rope in my den that I use to dry bed sheets and other big things. I have in the past used outdoor lines when it was 100F and in 15 minutes things were very dry. The more I think about how I can use the space that the dryer is currently using. The more fun I am having!

So for the past few years I have not used my clothes dryer as a dryer. I have been using the top as table. Now I come to a point where I am thinking about selling/giving it a way/other ideas.  It is a 30 year old or older gas dryer and I have ideas on what to do with the space. I know there are places on this planet that do not use dryers. There is a part of me that thinks I should keep it "just in case". The main reason I stopped using it was to save money and to stop toxic fairy dust getting on my clothing. So here are some of my ideas on what to do:

Find a "just in case" way to dry clothing.
1. Use a laundromat as a back up or friends/family dryer.
2. Find a permies way to dry clothing. Years ago my father told me about a dryer using centrifugal force to dry. Has any used one and liked it?
3. I know Paul Wheaton in Building World Backyard book or in a Podcast talked about using a dehumidifier in a room to dry clothing. And I can not forget using a Solar dehydrator as a dryer too.

This to do with the space.
1. Make more storage for things and may be an area to line dry.
2. Or since I brew turn the area into a small brewery.

Well what are your ideas?

Removed old shower insert and found more surprises on the walls. I knew most likely an issue would come, I just hoped it was not very big. The issues wear the bath and wall met water had deteriorated the dry wall, about a 3 to 4 inch strip was no more and light water damage was seen on the walls. The corners of the bath tub was fixed by putting plumbers putty into the corners to try and make a waterproof area between the tub and wall.

So I put up an PVC liner that is 40 mil (about 1 mm) then adding the Shou Sugi Ban on top. The liner is in and looks to be protecting the wall. Now I am trying to find a way to attach wood to the walls. Saunas use tongue and groove on the edge of the wood to join them together. I do not know how to fasten the wood to the wall.  What type of fastener would work? That is a question I need to answer.

Update on mushroom insulation, not good. The test has gone bad due to what I think is bacteria contamination. Smells like ammonia and therefore I will not be making another thread or using it. I have a new batch of Ganoderma lucidum growing now and  after I have the bathroom done using the mushroom insulation under and/or above the room.
