Hi Kim I'm reading this thread with interest. Quite new to all this and trying to learn. You're comment about how knowledge can be lost in a generation made me think about this article I read last night.

It says that because so many men died in the first world wars, and because lime building knowledge was passed on through families etc, in one generation in the uk it was lost. Much of what is done now in Britain has had to be relearnt relatively recently, and gleaned from any remaining old books. This article tells of examining ancient mixes for content from different centuries, locations and structures...it's an eye opener!
