Hi all - not sure if this is the right place for this question. I've been making aerated casting tea for a couple of years now, pretty regularly, about 2-3 times a month. I make it the same every time with good results and happy plants, 4 cups of fresh worm castings, 1/4 cup molasses, aerated in 5 gal for 48 hours. I just finished a batch casting tea today and immediately noticed something wrong with it. The color is off, instead of being dark brown it's a light brown/orange-ish color (like old coffee with cream) and there's a slightly unpleasant smell. On the castings bag a gooey stinky layer of muck has formed on the outside.

Any ideas on what happened so i can avoid in the future? Is the tea still useable? Maybe my bucket wasn't clean enough or had some bad bacteria floating around?

Thanks for your help and input
