3 inch round pipe = 7 square inchs
4 inch. = 16.6 almost double
6 inch = 28 .8 almost 4 times larger
Go bigger. 6 inch will still fit into your tank and allow big pieces wood. The riser size determines the size of your stove. 3 inch system is about half the size of 4 inch.
