Nice discussion. Years ago I knew an older guy with a one bedroom house on a large shaded lot, Big backyard. This is Virginia and he got an non-Seaworthy sailboat. My understanding is he paid $2000 to get it shipped And got the boat for free. Boat was outside by 30 feet long and 10 feet wide. A friend and I sanded down the nice wood that was on top, assuming later it received new varnish. He had it set up on wood pylons I believe assuming they were put in by the people that built the nice heavy Dock that made for a nice entryway/porch/outdoor living space. I know we hired a designer to redo the interior but basically it was an extra bedroom without a bath or kitchen. A guest house of sorts. Perhaps he installed an extra shower or bathroom amenities but I don’t believe so. Who’s project was considered a temporary because it wasn’t actually attached to the foundation some of the way they use those deck blocks now instead of digging a foundation to avoid city code issues/Regulations etc.
I thought it was a cool area which is why I jumped into this thread. My biggest Takeaway was that I would get designer as well and perhaps engineer involved.
