i'm looking for a caffeine producing plant to grow semi-protected in climate zones 4b-5a.
what is out there?
if they are yield intensive (meaning good harvest for CF of space, then the possibility of a heated/lighted greenhouse (or other protected, heated & lighted growing space) exists.
i'm looking for low-maintenance & sustainable options.
i know about yaupon holly, but its range is only slightly better than true tea (CS) or the coffees (CA/CR) which can be grown to zone 7...if winter protected.
*i know it is related closely to yerba mate.  i also understand that a virile & viable hybrid does exist, but not where to obtain.*
also, i'm aware of a (alleged subspecies of coffee) coffea alpinas that is supposed to be moderately freeze tolerant.  again, i know not where to find out more.
this all is in preparation of a likely solar-cycle confluence at the time on boreal axial precession & perihelion maximums.
...which could very well flip the earth's magnetospheric polarity & also experience a mega carrington event during the middle of 2026.
i don't need to really express how that might effecct when all global currency, commerce, industry, agriculture, transportation, communications, control & supply systems are all digital & electronics dependent, do I???!
so i'm looking well for those things sustainable moving forward.
...& yes, i triple-farraday protect what tech i do use or will need.
so what suggestions does everyone else have?  please share knowledge, wisdom, & experience.
thank you.
