Seen this done at the Lalla rhododendron farm in Tasmania. They laid clay pipes on sloped terrace on the northern slope of brown mountain, and covered it . Planted trees and rhododendrons over the area as part of their flower farm at the beginning of the twentieth century. Worked there in the late 1990s and this artificial spring was still providing water to the garden beds.
