Hello.... Fun & Crazy, NO-DRAMA, Barely-50's Couple who embarked on a Homesteading Mission to become Self-Sufficient.  

We have a plethora of fun and exciting Homestead activities planned for this Fall and Winter on our 5 acre Homestead in the Deep Forest of Putnam County... Looking to hire someone who is passionate + EXPERIENCED about Gardening/Farming.... We have Small Citrus Grove & Blueberry Grove + lots of wood to cut and stack, plants that need to get into the ground, and property needs some TLC this Fall....

PAID POSITION:  This is paid position, based on experience...  We value INTEGRITY, RELIABILITY, CONSISTENCY, and KINDNESS.

You still out in Bardin area? I know this post is super old... I am setting up a homestead in Bardin as well... Would like to connect with ANYONE in my GEO...  We feel like lone wolfs gardening and homesteading in Palatka...

I live in South Jacksonville--- in Putnam County....  Homesteading and setting up a Permaculture Farm....  Was wondering if there are any like minded folks in my GEO?

Floridian Homesteaders here....  However, we are further north in Farm country --> in Putnam County, right on the St. John's river....

I live in N. Florida (ZONE 9a), property is a sand bar of white sand. I imported all soil to plant 50 BB bushes and 30qty Citrus / Nut trees.

The orchards are spaced out generously. There is just soooo much white SAND around everything. I thought about hauling in 4 truck loads of Wood Chips and let it decompose. But then I also wanted to plant Crimson Clover for the bees to feed on (we have 10qty hives).

I have been trying to read up on Permaculture ideas and what others are doing-- but cannot really find any information on the best approach for N. Florida climate and what to do with the orchards.

Appreciate any experience that you might have to share with us?
