I understand the dialogue here almost every standard Russian stove made from bricks starts out with a bell behind the main burn chamber. Then it begins to wind up with channels along a large brick wall which is the front of the stove which sometimes includes a cooking surface or oven. Then that Sam Channel lines up to a smaller secondary stove built higher up which is how you get the draft going if it's cool or the beginning of the Season or you're not eating every day. Usually if it's already heated up it doesn't require this little stove. And then on top of this little stove it goes straight up to the chimney so sometimes you need to kick-start it with that.
