Just a quick note that both Bocking 4 and Bocking 14 do perfectly fine in Zone 10. Most ads say zones 4-9, but I grow a LOT of comfrey in Zone 10A without issues. Larger plants in partial shade, but no issues with full sun either... just have to be consistent with watering to keep the soil moist. Typical finger test of the top 2-3 inches of soil can determine necessity for watering.
Uses...
Bocking 14 - Comfrey tea (For plants... not human consumption), Mulch, Compost accelerator, chop and drop, Chickens love it, and more
Bocking 4 - Same uses as 14, but more appropriate for external medicinal use, salves, compresses, and other herbal uses.
For maximum leaf production, cut the flower stalks unless you want to have your comfrey also used as a pollinator magnet.
Happy planting,
