I came across this older discussion and wanted to add that if you're still having trouble, it could be worth checking for earwigs as well. They can cause significant damage at night, and you might miss them during the day. Try using a damp rolled-up newspaper as a trap to see if you can catch any culprits. Wondering if you've found any more clues since this was last discussed?
