I installed a non-combustible hearth under a wood-burning stove and found that porcelain or natural stone tiles work really well. They handle heat, are easy to clean, and protect the floor from sparks and ash. You just have to make sure the hearth extends far enough around the stove as recommended by the manufacturer for proper protection.
