Long Island, NY. I am Robbie, owner and founder of a small botanical project I run with a few close friends and family. I have spent over ten years making tinctures, extracts and other botanical infusions, and I am always on the hunt for exotic herbals. The plants I work with most are kava, kanna, blue lotus and amanita, plus lesser known ones like African dream bean, wild lettuce and sun opener. A lot of my time goes into how these plants are grown. We work with small independent growers, including friends in South Africa who breed, grow and harvest kanna, with formal benefit sharing with the San and Khoikhoi communities the plant comes from. I have picked up a fair bit of growing knowledge over the years and I am happy to share what has worked for me. I am also very open to learning new techniques from folks here.
The borrow or rent a herd part is what makes it doable. Enough goats to knock it back, then a couple to keep it down, with just a hot wire added to the cattle fence.
K, your two posts kind of prove the beginner point. Lemon balm survived single digits and a week of ice with no cover, and Tulsi had you hunting down seeds after the shop seedlings died.
