A swale is what you want if you want to have a tree growing system. wide is what you want. Dig some holes and tell me exactly what your perk rate is. Tell me the depth of the perk holes. Lets start there with some actual numbers.

The swale is coming along with some mulch and some irrigation. I have posted some video of it filling when we made it with the winter cover crops.
